Mommy Makeover

topdoc-breast-augmentation

To say that your life changes when you become a mom is probably the understatement of the century. Suddenly, your life becomes all about thinking, feeling, and doing for someone else – as it should. But even though you’re a mom, it’s still okay to think about what you want every now and then. That’s what the “Mommy Makeover” is all about. After pregnancy and breastfeeding, a woman’s breasts and tummy commonly become deflated, stretched out, and droopy.  A “Mommy Makeover” is a clever term for combining breast reshaping and tummy tuck surgery to reverse these unflattering changes.  If you are interested in revitalizing your body, and finding that pre-pregnancy figure, contact Dr. Song to see which combination of procedures is right for you.

CHANGES ASSOCIATED WITH PREGNANCY
  • Stretched abdominal muscles, which causes protruding and bulging at the belly and increased waistline
  • Loose and excess skin – maybe even an overhang of skin at the bottom of your belly
  • Stretch marks
  • Love handles
  • Loss of breast tissue and volume – deflated and/or sagging breasts
WHAT PROCEDURES ARE INCLUDED IN A MOMMY MAKEOVER?

A Mommy Makeover is not a combination of any specific plastic surgery procedures – every woman’s body is affected by pregnancy differently, so each person will require a consultation with Dr. Song to determine what surgeries are needed to accomplish her goals.  Mommy Makeovers include rejuvenation and enhancement of the breasts and abdomen:

TUMMY TUCK & LIPOSUCTION

Most women seeking a mommy makeover will get a tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, to achieve a flatter, tighter stomach. Tummy tucks help to tighten stretched abdominal muscles and remove excess skin and stretch marks. Dr. Song performs liposuction in conjunction with tummy tuck surgery to maximize results with the shortest possible incision.

BREAST AUGMENTATION, BREAST LIFT & BREAST REDUCTION

Pregnancy and breastfeeding can cause most women to lose tissue, tone and elasticity, and volume in their breasts; however, there are some women who suffer from the opposite – breasts that have grown so large that they are uncomfortable, saggy or even painful for their back and neck.

For women who suffer from deflation and loss of breast tissue and are seeking larger, fuller breasts, a breast augmentation is the way to go. In your consultation Dr. Song will help you select the implant style and size that is right for you. At Song Plastic Surgery we offer saline and silicone, round and shaped, textured and smooth implants, so you have plenty of options to choose from.

If you feel like your breasts are now sagging, then Dr. Song will determine if you are a candidate for a breast lift, also known as mastopexy. Breast lift surgery involves removing excess fat and skin and lifting and reshaping the breast. A breast lift surgery can also be combined with a breast augmentation or breast reduction.

Breast Reduction surgery is for women who feel their breasts are too large for their bodies, and feel negatively affected by them. This surgery involves the removal of excess breast tissue, fat and skin as well as a breast lift.

Did you know? Today Is Don’t Fry Day:

Although it might sound more like a dieter’s mantra, Don’t Fry Day is actually an initiative of the Council for Skin Cancer Prevention.

With the days of tanning and basking in the sun all day long behind us, the words on everyone’s lips these days is ‘slip, slop, slap and wrap’, encouraging sun worshippers to slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen (SPF 30 and above is ideal), slap on a hat, and wrap on sunglasses. This day is a great opportunity to teach kids about being sun smart in a light-hearted way.

Rather than staying out in the sun all day, why not celebrate by holding an indoor picnic and having a movie marathon? Or if the weather’s nice, grab some friends, a beach umbrella, and have some sun smart fun in the great outdoors. Just remember to follow the rules, and slip, slop, slap and wrap between the hours of 10 and 4!
