As years pass, the face ages predictably. Skin loses elasticity, causing crow's feet and deepened nasolabial folds. Cheeks sag, lower eyelids hollow, and the jawline droops. Some develop loose skin under the chin, resembling a "double chin." Fine lines evolve into defined creases and deeper folds. Aging affects everyone, worsened by sun exposure, gravity, heredity, and personal habits.

A facelift can effectively reverse or reduce the visible signs of aging by tightening the skin, restoring facial contours, and improving overall facial appearance. Please schedule a consultation if you're interested in a facelift in Orange County & Irvine

South Coast Plastic Surgery

What is a facelift?

Our facelift surgery, also known as a rhytidectomy, can help to reverse these negative signs of aging. In this surgical procedure, board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Ali Qureshi, will give patients a more youthful facial appearance by eliminating loose and hanging skin and restoring the natural facial volume that has withered over time.

Natural-Looking Facelift: Celebrating Your True Beauty with South Coast Plastic Surgery

If you are considering this surgery, it is important to select a surgeon with the technical expertise and artistic vision to give you the desired results. It is especially important to ensure your results will be natural-looking as procedures done on the face are the easiest to identify and the most difficult to camouflage.

Dr. Ali recognizes that each face requires an individualized approach to restore the appearance of youth and thus uses a wide variety and combination of techniques to achieve this goal. Choosing a Facial Plastic Surgeon

More than any other factor, the outcome of any facial plastic surgery depends on your surgeon’s skill. It takes an artist with a keen eye, a careful hand, and extensive experience in the operating room to perform a facelift that is not only highly complimenting, but timelessly beautiful, long-lasting, and aesthetically integrated with each patient’s unique beauty. Dr. Ali is exactly such a surgeon.

This is The Dr. Ali Difference

These six factors set Dr. Ali apart as a preeminent facial plastic surgeon sought out by patients locally, nationally, and abroad.

1. An exact, complete, and nuanced approach to each age-related facial change.

Dr. Ali approaches the three most apparent age-related facial changes—sagging tissue, lost volume, and reduced skin quality–in a thoughtful, customized, and multimodality way. He lifts what has fallen, to restore your natural facial anatomy to what it was 10 or 15 years earlier. Lost volume is restored with the latest line of fillers that match most closely with the body's natural “filler.” Finally, he improves skin texture and quality using Halo hybrid fractional laser. These final touch improvements are the "icing on the cake," as described by Dr. Ali’s mentor, Dr. Grant Stevens.

2. Skin that isn't pulled or stretched, but is lifted and reset into its youthful place.

Dr. Ali does not “pull” the facial tissue, but rather lifts it. He lifts the fallen subdermal tissue and musculature, and then carefully lays the skin on top of it, removing excess skin for a tension-free closure that ensures a virtually imperceptible scar.

3. Curvilinear incisions that produce virtually imperceptible scars.

Dr. Ali follows the natural contours, curvature, and shadows of the ear to hide the incisions. If necessary, he carries the incision into the hairline rather than along it, where the scar would be more visible. Dr. Ali’s facelift patients can wear a ponytail or have their hair up without worrying someone might know that they had surgery. His fine incision scars are hidden in the hairline.

4. Narcotics not required: Less pain, faster recovery.

Dr. Ali doesn’t use narcotics in his practice. His patients use Celebrex and Gabapentin and start their medicine the day before surgery. Priming the pain receptors before surgery allows patients to have less pain afterward. After surgery, most patients report discomfort behind the ears and take Tylenol and Ibuprofen—making a vast difference in recovery time and results.

5. Faster, safer surgery.

While facelifts often take up to six or even eight hours for many surgeons, Dr. Ali has his patients spend a total time of between 2 - 3 hours in surgery. His facelift patients also require no catheter during surgery and no drains after surgery. His patients often return home within an hour of surgery.

6. Complete care and compassion.

Dr. Ali follows up with his patients intently. His patients will see him 48 hours after surgery, and again at 1 and 2 weeks, and 1, 3, 6, and 12 months out from surgery. This compassionate follow-up is an important part of ensuring the healing process is smooth and that the surgical results are exactly to the patient’s liking.

Your facelift surgery

Often, a surgeon will employ a combination of techniques to deliver an optimal result. This includes lifting tissue that has fallen with age, removing excess skin that has lost its elasticity due to age, gravity, or changes in weight, and the use of dermal fillers and laser resurfacing.

A full facelift procedure requires the surgeon to make incisions in the area just above the ears that continue downward tightly around the earlobe, circling up in the groove behind the ear before returning into the hair of the scalp behind the ear. The skin of the middle and lower face is then loosened from the underlying tissue. The surgeon will reposition and tighten the underlying connective tissue and muscle. Some amount of fat may be removed, as well as the excess lax skin. After trimming excess skin, the surgeon closes all incisions with very fine sutures. Often, metal clips are used, which permit surgery without shaving hair from the incision site.

Complimentary Procedures

Dr. Ali uses advanced surgical techniques and minimally invasive technology to produce the best possible results.

Laser techniques

Laser treatments may be used individually or in combination with a surgical procedure to reshape or resurface the neck.  The HALO by Sciton laser removes problems that live in the superficial layer of our skin which includes: pigment irregularities (dark spots), textural problems (fine lines/wrinkles and skin bumps), and pore-size irregularities.

Facial fat transfer

Some patients will also opt for facial fat transfer along with the facelift procedure. A fat transfer refers to the process of taking fat from your tummy and injecting purified adipose fat tissue into another area of your body. The goal of the procedure is to improve the fullness of the cheeks, nasolabial folds, jawline, or lower eye area, giving extra volume to the facial structure. This procedure makes the overall result look more natural, avoiding the “facelifted” appearance.

Endoscopy

Brow lifts are now performed with specialized endoscopy equipment which allows smaller incisions and decreased recovery time.

Fillers, The RHA Collection

Dr. Ali often uses the RHA Collection of fillers after a facelift to volumize and augment the cheeks, jawline, and lips, giving your face a more natural, youthful, and balanced appearance.

Liposuction

The jawline, chin, and neck areas are readily targeted by liposuction to remove fatty deposits and create a more contoured and attractive appearance. It can be done in conjunction with laser or traditional facelift procedures.

Chemical peel

In many cases, a chemical peel is performed in conjunction with a facelift in Ladera Ranch. A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to enhance and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is especially useful for the fine wrinkles on cheeks, forehead and around the eyes, and the vertical wrinkles around the mouth.

Recovery

You can expect, a small amount of bruising and swelling, which begins to resolve three days after surgery. Drainage tubes are not typically used. Patients can expect to return to work within 7-10 days after surgery. Most can attend a major social event within three weeks.
